Installation and Configuration of the Computer Stations

Due to the limited budget, we had, it was decided we use a new technology called NComputing (www.ncomputing.com).

This is a technology that involves having a powerful machine, (Host Server), and having up to 10 “dumb terminals” connect to it.

This kind of setup overcomes the following obstacles to challenges to setting up a computer lab

  • Tight budgets result in outdated PCs or fewer PCs. Either way, the students and teachers suffer.
  • PC management is a nightmare. Managing dozens of PCs per school is a daunting challenge for schools with limited IT personnel.
  • Limited PC lab space and electrical wiring limit computing access to more students.

The NComputing Setup has the following key advantages:

  • Cut PC acquisition costs by 60%.
  • Reduce PC equipment and complexity.
  • Lower electrical consumption by 90%.
  • Monitor student activity.
  • Accommodate 30% more students in the same PC lab.
