Due to the high cost of equipment, we were forced to carry everything we needed from Nairobi.
2.Transport
Old town Lamu is an Island, town meaning that the only means there is by boat. Within Lamu town, there is only one car (DO’s Landover), and a
“Tuk Tuk” (3 wheel vehicle also known as an auto rickshaw or cabin cycle)
Therefore the equipment to be used, for the installation was transported using the local courier service “EMS”, whose last stop was the mainland “MPEKETONI”.
This therefore means it was up to the team to hire a boat to transport the equipment to LAMU Island, after which we had to hire donkey carts to transport the equipment to the school.
